WHAT MAKES OUR WINES
Unique?
THE FIVE ROWS
Varietals
Named after the five original rows of the vines planted in the Moutere clay overlooking the Tasman Bay, the unique wines of Mahana Hills Vineyard are made in limited quantities alongside the vines.
OUR WINE MAKING
Philosophy
Best wine comes from hand picked grapes harvested when the brixs (sugar) is just right from healthy unirrigated vines producing small concentrations of concentrated juice.
Following fermentation the finest French oak is used for "elevage" maturing the wine. No fining or filtration is used and cold stabilisation of white wines occurs naturally outside over winter.
We bottle, cork and label ourselves on site using the minimum of sulphite for good wine hygiene.
Mahana Hills Vineyard
is nestled in the
Upper Moutere Hills located west of Nelson City.
Visit us for a friendly wine tour and wine tasting with Colin (granddad). How may vineyards are so small that you can really see the vines that made your wine and the barrel that aged it.
This is no ordinary wine club,
this is a group of wine enthusiasts that have joined
us on a journey of discovery.
